ABOUT THE ARTIST

I first began showing my work professionally in LosAngeles in the late nineties through the mid-2000s. My first show was a groupshow at the M Hanks Gallery in Santa Monica California.  That exhibition was followed by several othergroup shows, including at Loyola Marymount University. My first solo show wasat the Vanek Collection Gallery, as their inaugural show.

Three large abstract pieces frommy collage and acrylic on board series Lostin Space; Sacred Geometry in Art, were featured in all five seasons of theFox sitcom, Living Single, starringQueen Latifah. Placement in films and television continued, including, fourpieces from my mixed media watercolor and pen and ink series Shadow Boxing were featured in theindependent film Making Mavis, starring Alfre Woodard, and three pieces were featured inthe Showtime film Circle of Pain.Two of the pieces were from my acrylic on canvas abstract expressionist series Faces of the Universe, and the otherlarge piece also acrylic on canvas, was from my series, Angels Among Us. 

I took a hiatus to raise my sonand now I work out of my studio in Georgetown in Washington DC. Most recently I was part of agroup show at the Featherstone Gallery in Martha’sVineyard in August 2022, curated by Adrienne Childs.  The show was entitled Imagine: Celebrating Black Female Creativity and also included workfrom artists, Nanette Carter, Emma Amos and Della Martin.

Other recentexhibitions and artist talks include “Fireside Chat: Pathways to Success in theArt World” Wynwood Gallery, during Miami Art Basel 2022,  Art All Night, Georgetown 2022, Jackson ArtCenter Exhibition Space. 2023: Do the Loop Art show, Kreeger Museum, KatzenArts Center and Jackson Art Center.
